Dreams Take Wings

I had the hardest time getting my camera to take pictures of this card. It just doesn't want to focus right...I am so sad. But enough of my sorrows. I was so excited to open my box of goodies, to see the new pre-cut rubber for our stamps, the new colors. Oh the joy and sorrow. I really miss the "old" in colors.

Today's "Dreams Take Wings" card recipe:

Stamps: Dreams Du Jour
Cardstock: Riding Hood Red, Whisper White, Kiwi Kiss
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Creamy Caramel
Designer Paper: Bella Rose
Accessories: Dazzling Diamonds, colored pencils, scallop punch, scissors, Two way glue pen, Dimensionals
Cut the Riding Hood Red cardstock 5 1/2" by 8 1/2" and scored at 4 1/4".

Bella Rose (rose side) cut 5 1/2" by 3" and 1 strip 1" by 5 1/2" and a second strip 1/2" by 5 1/2".

Bella Rose (polka dot) cut 1" by 5 1/2".

Take Riding Hood Red cardstock and fold on the score mark. Adhere your first square of Bella Rose to cardstock. I then ran the "polka dot" Designer Paper through the scallop punch. Slightly overlapping the first layer of DP, adhere polka dot strip. Take the 1" strip of Bella Rose and ahere so that the green side is facing up. (I placed my strip 1/4" from the scallopped edge.) Then center 1/2" strip on top of green strip.

Stamp the "Grow Great" dreams stamp twice on Whisper White cardstock. Color with pencils the leaves on one stamped image and the flowers one the second. Cut out one whole stamped image and the flowers on the second image. Sponge with Creamy Caramel over the whole stamped image. With your Dimensionals, layer the cut out flowers on top of whole stamped image. Adhere to the strip.

Take your Kiwi Kiss and stamp two butterflies. Cut out and fold the wings slightly up at the body. With your 2 way glue pen, touch the wings where you would like to see the glitter; add glitter. Put adhesive on the body only of the butterfly and adhere to card.

To simplify this card for a Level One stamp camp, do not add glitter to butterfly and omit the flower layering.

Have a Happy Tuesday!!

Just had to share this!!

I was playing over on SCS on a blogging game and found Happy inkers site. She had this posted and encouraged anyone who enjoyed it to share it. SOOOOO... I had to share this. I was laughing out loud while DH was watching his sci-fi thriller. (Yes, I laughed at a climatic moment.) Anywhos.....I hope you get a giggle.

Anyway, this is a new reality show scenario:Six married men will be dropped on an island with one car and 3 kids each for six weeks.

Each kid will play two sports and either take music or dance classes. There is no fast food. Each man must take care of his 3 kids; keep his assigned house clean, correct all homework, and complete science projects, cook, do laundry, and pay a list of 'pretend' bills with not enough money. In addition, each man will have to budget in money for groceries each week.

Each man must remember the birthdays of all their friends and relatives, and send cards out on time--no emailing. Each man must also take each child to a doctor's appointment, a dentist appointment and a haircut appointment. He must make one unscheduled and inconvenient visit per child to the Urgent Care. He must also make cookies or cupcakes for a social function. Each man will be responsible for decorating his own assigned house, planting flowers outside and keeping it presentable at all times. The men will only have access to television when the kids are asleep and all chores are done.

The men must shave their legs, wear makeup daily, adorn themselves with jewelry, wear uncomfortable yet stylish shoes, keep fingernails polished and eyebrows groomed. During one of the six weeks, the men will have to endure severe abdominal cramps, back aches, and have extreme, unexplained mood swings but never once complain or slow down from other duties. They must attend weekly school meetings, church, and find time at least once to spend the afternoon at the park or a similar setting. They will need to read a book to the kids each night and in the morning, feed them, dress them, brush their teeth and comb their hair by 7:00 am.

A test will be given at the end of the six weeks, and each father will be required to know all of the following information: each child's birthday, height, weight, shoe size, clothes size and doctor's name. Also the child's weight at birth, length, time of birth, and length of labor, each child's favorite color, middle name, favorite snack, favorite song, favorite drink, favorite toy, biggest fear and what they want to be when they grow up.

The kids vote them off the island based on performance. The last man wins only if... he still has enough energy to be intimate with his spouse at a moment's notice.

If the last man does win, he can play the game over, and over, and over again for the next 18-25 years, eventually earning the right to be called Mother.

Lengthy, but so worth it. Pass it on to anyone you think this would make laugh; women and men.

Keep It Simple and Candy

At our unit meeting, Natalie gave us a challenge to K.I.S.S. Basically to Keep it simple. I sometimes forget to do that as I love cards that are full, layered and embellished. But she's right, it doesn't always have to be that way. I believe that these cards embrace that challenge. These cards were inspired by my friend and upline Dawn and our Stampin' Success. Hmm, I am thinking fun and Simple. That gives me an idea for a simple Blog Candy Challenge. Can you guess which products used in these cards are on the retired list? You have until Monday @ midnight to email your answer. Good Luck!!

Grim Grinning Ghosts come out to socialize...

Well, the inevitable time has come. I have to stop using some of my favorite stamps in my showcase. (My personal goal is to use only current products, no matter how hard.) I was thinking how sad it is to retire some of my friends. But just as we say goodbye to someone, fun memories come to mind as well. As my friend Dawn was creating this template/color combo, she commented that this card would make a very good condolence card. After she said that, the first thing that popped into my head was "The Grim Grinning Ghosts" song from the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland. Doesn't this card have the perfect colors for it??

I have to tell you though, I am so in the mood right now for Fall, Halloween, Thanksgiving....oh, the holiday splendor!! I am busy planning my holiday stamp camps and I am constantly changing my mind as to what cards I want to make. I think that I will end up with a little of everything!!

TAGGED!!

This is the first TAG for My Pink Pajamas!! I was tagged by my brand new blogging friend Jeanna. Please visit her site here: http://stamptimesomewhere.typepad.com/stamp_time_somewhere/

Here are my 7 random/weird facts about me.

1.) My husband actually calls me Palapalakini. I used to hate being called Barbara Jean when I was young. As I became an adult, I couldn't get anyone to call me Barbara Jean. My husband who met me as Barbara now refers to me by my Hawaiian version.

2.) I smile when I type. My daughters laugh at me, and yes, they are laughing now. I usually will smile and laugh when I am typing or writing to someone. (Gosh, I sure hope that they enjoy their mail as much as I did typing it.~teehee)

3.) I rearrange my home ALL the time. It can be anything. My top 2 reasons for rearranging... I am deep cleaning and everything moves or I am so frustrated, I have to change what I can around me. Hmmm. I think that I just learned something new about myself.

4.) I actually did a victory dance after I won my first arguement with my mom. Whether you know my mom or not, she never loses an arguement. I thought that this was such a big acheivement until I realized that I would've rather have won her approval.

5.) I secretly enjoy watching people's faces when they hear we have 8 kids. It is even funnier when they try to figure out who is related to who. I love my big family but it bothers me when people insist on knowing which of my 8 are mine. They are all mine, silly peeps. I guess that goes along with "who is their real mom?" I didn't know that I wasn't real. Good thing that I am secure with myself.

6.) I cannot sit and be idle. I feel like I constantly have to be working on something. My poor hubby can't even have me watch a movie with him without me finding something to do about halfway through.

7.) I am married to a chef. Okay, not literally. But my husband can outcook me any day of the week. I love it!! I really love it when he makes chinese food. The downfall...he makes dieting hell.

Okay, that is way more than enough about me. Here are the 7 lucky winners of my tag. I hope that you will enjoy these wonderful and lovely ladies as much as I do!! Take a peek and let them know where you came from if you want.

1.) Alesha Walls http://aleshawalls.blogspot.com/

2.) Ali Manning http://www.newenglandstamper.com/my_weblog/

5.) Kirsten http://kirstendubosque.blogspot.com/

6.) Lisa http://blessedalatte.blogspot.com/

7.) Charmaine http://oodabugalley.blogspot.com/

I hope that you all will play!! Happy Inspirations!

Thank You Jeanna!

So, I jumped on my email this morning and there was a surprise for me. I was TAGGED today! If you don't know what that means or if you haven't heard of it before, stay tuned. I will post the info later today. I did however, want to post this card for Jeanna! Jeanna, I would mail this to you but I don't have your address. :( ~Thank you for my surprise today. You gave me a great ray of sunshine!!

Vellum Luminary Card

I had so much fun with this card. I know it is out of my normal pink color range....although I did add a touch of pink to the center of my flower. There is just something about this that was relaxing to me today. I love that it is not "In Your Face" bold and the vellum watercoloring was just the right touch.

This was created with 100 % SU! products.

UPDATE

Here is the recipe

Sets: Wonderful You, It's your Birthday
Cardstock: River Rock (rtd), Vellum, Ginger Blossom DSP (rtd)
Ink: Basic Black, Versamark,
Accessories: Markers, 1 3/8 square punch, River Rock DBL Stitched ribbon, scissors, paper trimmer, snail adhesive

Cut (2) River Rock cardstock 4"x 11". Score at 2 3/4", 5 1/2" and 8 1/4".

Cut (2) Vellum 2 1/2" x 3 3/4"

Cut (1) Ginger Blossom 2"x 4"

Stamp Bold images with versamark "all over design" on both pieces of River Rock. With square punch, punch twice to form rectangle shape. To do this, center punch in scored section and set punch all the way in on the top and bottom of section. Repeat for second section. (You may repeat this for the back side but the directions are for front design only.)

Stamp Vellum. Color with markers on BACK SIDE of stamped image and adhere to inside of card.

Adhere DSP on left side. Lay and adhere a strip of ribbon to seam of DSP and trim edges.

Adhere both pieces of cardstock together at the ends leaving the center boxes free and open.
